Nightswim

The greatest night swim in the world.

About NightSwim

This site is THE source of info for the greatest nightswim in the world–the one and only Basel Night Rheinswim. Swimming in the Rhine is a great, cooling-down experience for hot summer days! There are a few nights every year in Basel, when the water temperature is significantly over 20C and the air is reminding of tropical nights. These nights offer the occasion for the nightswim, a unique experience of Rhine swimming under the lights of torches and some fireworks. Safety is a major issue, therefore all participants of the nightswim have to be experienced day-light Rhine swimmers, following the basic behavior rules for Rhine swimming. Everyone is welcome, but beginners have to go for a day swim first with either Randy or Didi, to get a first feeling for swimming in the Rhine and get informed about the basic behavior rules. If you feel cosy and safe then you will love to join the nightswim. The decision when it takes place is always on rather short terms, as the weather is often not very predictable. As a registered nightswimmer you will receive a mail with all details one or two days before THE night! Then its just about bringing along a torch, a swimming bag, some Badeschläppli and your swimming panties…
